Rehab South Florida 12-Step Program

Rehab South Florida – Treating Drug and Alcohol Addiction with the 12-step Program

Welcome to our overview of the 12-step program offered by “Rehab South Florida”; an all-inclusive program consisting of our credentialed clinical staff working with patients to overcome addiction thru an evidence-based approach.

For those unfamiliar with the 12-step program, it’s the foundational premise of addiction recovery and involves the participation of patients meeting with one another to not only achieve sobriety but to maintain it. At “Rehab South Florida”, we pride ourselves in providing top-notch recovery treatment services and programs and among our most popular of treatment classes is the one in which provides the 12-step program.

For one, being a part of the 12-step program will afford patients the opportunity to converse with others which will lead to a uniquely curated support group that you’ll be able to rely on throughout your recovery. Our 12-step program is offered through both meeting-styled sessions and one-on-one experiences which will enable you to achieve and maintain abstinence.

The 12-step program continues to be a commonly recommended and used addiction recovery treatment modality effective in providing treatment for an array of addiction cases. According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA), in its National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services, the 12-Step treatment is now used by nearly 74% of all US based treatment centers and this number is rising quickly.

The “Rehab South Florida” is an advanced, cutting-edge treatment facility that fully embraces the concepts and uses of various treatment models to provide effective care to all patients regardless of the severity of their addiction.

Because of this, and, because of our drive to provide effective recovery treatments to patients in the community – we’ve adopted the 12-step program and have perfected the art of offering the program in such a way that it’s most effective for patients.

How the 12-step Program was Founded

The motive and initiative behind the 12-Step treatment model is to provide patients with the opportunity to help one another achieve and maintain sobriety from the substances/ behaviors to which they have become addicted to. Individuals suffering from addiction can accomplish this through meetings in which they exchange experiences with one another while providing support to one another in the ongoing effort of achieving long-term sobriety.

Results from a clinical research study conducted by the Addiction Research and Theory, accomplishing sobriety through the treatment implementation of the 12-Step programs “can account for high levels of positive mental health changes and can contribute the patient’s long-term recovery success”.

Once this study concluded, results demonstrated that patients who participated in the 12-step program were more likely to flourish in society in addition maintaining sobriety for the long-term.

Detox of South Florida takes the 12-step program quite seriously as studies have shown that addicts who undergo our 12-step treatment approach are over 40% more likely to maintain sobriety after treatment.

The most important result derived from this clinical study is that participants of the 12-Step model approach show signs of improved mental health which will greatly contribute to the patient’s ability in cognitively dealing with addiction withdrawals and treatment.

The 12-Step approach will provide patients with the framework needed to surrender their addiction, understand their experiences, and move forward into healthier living practices. As mentioned in a publication by “Psych Central” which was dubbed the “Recovery Using the 12 Steps” – following the teachings of the 12-step model assists patients by aiding in the development of constructive and healthy practices including:

  • Being able to not only recognize your addiction issue but being able to admit and discuss it with the therapist or addiction specialist provided at “Rehab South Florida”
  • Recognizing and understanding that the addiction exists and having the willpower to accept help for treatment
  • Being able to self-reflect and improve your awareness of your behavior and actions
  • Being able to work on building self-esteem and improving your mental attitude
  • Becoming compassionate towards others and understanding the feelings/emotions of peers

The 12-Step Program – What’s Involved

At “Rehab South Florida” we understand that the recovery needs are unique to each patient that comes to our facility for treatment. You’re ready to turn your life around and you want to lead a drug-free way of living and we’re so happy for you that you’ve made this choice!

Because many of our patients require individualized attention we always ensure that one-on-one time is provided between you and a doctor or an addiction specialist so that you can have the privacy you want and need to explain your addiction, goals, and recovery options.

Because recovery is a long-term process, there really isn’t a wrong approach to taking part in the 12-Step program as the patients will be able to determine what works best for their individual needs during their stay at Rehab South Florida.

Rehab South Florida is happy to provide you with the 12-steps involved as defined by the Alcoholics Anonymous (the founding organization of the 12-step program):

  • We admitted we were powerless over alcohol–that our lives had become unmanageable.
  • Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
  • Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.
  • Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
  • Admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
  • Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character
  • Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings
  • Made a list of persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
  • Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
  • Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.
  • Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
  • Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

NOTE FROM REHAB SOUTH FLORIDA

We want to be entirely transparent in the way that we conduct our treatment services and approaches to helping our patients with regaining sobriety, happiness, purpose, and fulfillment of their lives goals.

Our approach involves a process that’s much more than just the 12-step program. While the 12-step program is provided and held to the highest of standards we truly care about the health and sobriety accomplishment for each of our patients and will adjust and curate the 12-step program so that it’s individually tailored for your specific recovery needs.

Upon your admission to our advanced treatment facility, you’ll sit down one-on-one with either an admissions counselor, addiction specialist or a doctor that has the experience to understand your circumstances, addiction, and recovery needs and from there we’ll begin to create and administer a treatment plan.

It’s so very true when we say that addiction cases are unique to each individual and when you’re seeking treatment, or, are looking for a Florida rehab center that has the experience to provide the highest probability of you succeeding addiction these are the qualities, beliefs, and practices of the rehab center that you’ll want to look for.

Unlike many other Florida rehab centers, our medical staff is highly motivated by the recovery of patients. We’re all here for the comfort and speedy recovery of our patients and our success in helping patients to overcome either drug or alcohol addiction is the reason that “Rehab South Florida” is considered to be the go-to rehab when doctors or medical professionals are referring patients who are needing an effective addiction recovery option.

If you’re ready to grasp the life of sobriety and are ready to accomplish your life’s goals and dreams you’ll first need to rid the habits that addiction is drowned your life with. Drug addiction can be triggered by bad influences, poor upbringing or a negative mindset.

Emotional stress, negative thoughts, and a sense of no self-worth are all symptoms that can prolong the seeking of treatment in individuals. For patients that believe their addiction is stemming from cognitive symptoms you’ll be happy to hear the “Detox South Florida” specializes in treating such cases.

Through the use of “Dual Diagnosis”, during your entrance interview, and, throughout treatment, our medical staff will be able to determine how much of an impact your mental state is making on your addiction and receptiveness to treatment.

Should mental illness be a condition in which the patient is inflicted with, our medical professionals and addiction specialists will combine their efforts to curate a treatment plan that will include both medicated and non-medicated forms of treatment.

Since mental illness can lead to relapse, providing non-medicated treatment may not be enough as if a cognitive sickness is present the probability of returning to a non-sober life is much higher. We provide treatment that will provide patients with long-term sobriety, not short-term.

With that said, our treatments are all-inclusive of the tools, treatments, therapies, and the 12-step program to help ensure the long-term health and sobriety for each patient receiving treatment at our center.

How do 12-step Meetings Work?

12-step meetings are conducted across the US daily as more and more facilities are becoming aware of the effectiveness it has on helping patients to achieve sobriety. Most of our patients, in the early stages of recovery, will attend 12-step meetings multiple times per week (while attendance isn’t mandated, it’s highly suggested).

Sometimes, our 12-step program is open to non-patient individuals. For example, an open AA meeting hosted here at our “Rehab South Florida” facility permits the attendance of friends or loved ones of the patients attending. On the other hand, when we’re hosting closed AA meetings, attendance from friends and family are not permitted as these are private sessions intended for on-site patients.

A majority of our 12-step meetings are led by drug counselors rather by other patients who are in recovery that have previously participated in the program. “Some” session are free to attend and open to the public. If non-patient attendees choose to join they can and will remain anonymous.

During our 12-step program sessions, patients will enjoy socialization time and will introduce themselves to the group as a whole using only their first name. Upon their introduction, they’ll have the opportunity to share their story, including any of their life’s conflicts or positive experiences (experiences that they believe will benefit other participating members in some capacity).

Reading, understanding and dissecting the each of the steps within the 12-step program, meditation and reciting prayers may also be included in the session(s) in which you’re attending.

Typically, crosstalk is not permitted. Patients or attendees are not allowed to give advice to one another during sessions. These meetings are intended to be private and confidential and members may not want their personal information or life story leaving the group.

Because of this, we don’t permit cross talking amongst patients in an effort to help all individuals feel comfortable with knowing that there information will not be discussed elsewhere.

Rehab South Florida Staff & Support

Art therapy is known for helping adolescents, adults, and addicts with improving self-esteem, emotions, improving self-esteem, relieving stress, and managing addiction. Anxiety and depression are two factors that inhibit the mental being of addiction-inflicted patients and art therapy will help patients to cope with the side effects of recovery and withdrawals.
