We understand that with addiction, there can be pre-existing behavioural health issues that if left unattended can aggravate the addiction and vice versa. Exploring a diagnosis means proper education in regards to the diagnosis. We understand that this can sometimes mean that extra responsibility is needed in developing the necessary skills and tools required to have success in long-term recovery from both addiction and their diagnosis.

Since drug or alcohol abuse may be occurring due to a co-occurring disorder such as mental illness it’s important for us here at “Rehab South Florida” to assess patients conditions (dual diagnosis) to ensure underlying mental health complications aren’t present.

While treatment for drug or alcohol abuse can be provided alone, if there’s an underlying issue causing or supporting the patient’s addiction it’s important that the problem is diagnosed and treated.
